I am Bryson’s Dad.
Bryson is 13, has cerebral palsy, hydrocephalus and other challenges including the need for a wheelchair to get around. He has some learning disabilities as well. He was born 13 weeks premature yet continues to exceed the expectations of many professionals who have helped to take care of him at one time or another.
This blog is therapy for me and, I hope, a help for you. I started it as a way to dig deeper into my own faith life and to help other parents of special needs children do the same. Life with Bryson is a challenge — the hardest thing I’ve ever done actually. As part of the challenge, my faith is tested on a daily basis. At times, it wears thin. It can feel dried out and withered. It seems tiny — too small to really matter to God or Jesus or anybody else. Yet, it continues and it grows. What’s more, life with Bryson helps to shape every bit of it.
I hope what I write here and share here honors God. I also hope, even dream, that it provides you with help in your own swim upstream. It is important to remember that you are not alone.
